In the mail, we received a bag the size of a small pillow you might use to decorate an armchair that contained the $1,000 worth of seeds for pollinator friendly plants that we ordered. Now what? We watch the weather, and wait for the first forecast of snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That forecast came early in 2022, and on November 9 we made one more pass with the harrow and started seeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a Broadcast Spreader with Pollinator Plot Seeds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The seeds were not well suited to broadcast seeding as some were small and hard, and others were large and fluffy, with everything in between. We had visions of covering only one small corner of the plot with the precious seed, and coming up empty in the seeder. So on every pass, Mona looked at the progress, adjusted the spreader, and added another partial handful of seed to the hopper. We proceeded this way until we had covered the entire plot twice, in a cross-hatch pattern. Then we dragged it with a chain to settle the seed down to wait for the coming snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
